Новый MINI Countryman

With the introduction of the second-generation MINI Countryman, the legendary British brand continues its confident advance into the premium compact segment. The new MINI Countryman is the largest and most versatile model in the marques 57-year history. Completely redesigned, it impresses with greater spaciousness, improved functionality, a more athletic character, and a distinctly premium atmosphere.

The new MINI Countryman is approximately 20 centimetres longer than its predecessor and about 3 centimetres wider. Its wheelbase has been increased by 7.5 centimetres. These larger dimensions have brought a significant improvement in space and comfort across five full-size seats, as well as a noticeable increase in luggage capacity and versatility. The elevated seating position provides an excellent view of the road and delivers the characteristic driving sensation associated with the brand. Compared with the previous model, maximum luggage capacity has increased by 220 litres.

An electrically operated tailgate is available as an option. In combination with Comfort Access, it also offers hands-free opening and closing. The optional storage package includes, among other features, an adjustable luggage-compartment floor, tensioning straps, fastening loops, and a stainless-steel insert on the luggage-compartment sill. A particularly unique option is the Picnic Bench — a fold-out seat that extends from the luggage compartment and can accommodate two people.

The name of the new MINI Countryman is deeply rooted in the traditions of the British brand. In the 1960s, it was used for a versatile version of the classic Mini. The Austin Seven Countryman, like the structurally identical Morris Mini-Traveller, featured an interior designed for practical everyday use. To this day, it remains a cult model, especially in the Woody version with wooden exterior trim. In the same spirit, the MINI Countryman opened up new possibilities for enjoying the brand’s signature driving experience. It was the first MINI with four doors and a large tailgate, five seats, and optional all-wheel drive, and its global sales exceeded 540,000 units.

Powerful proportions, a more mature character.

In its latest generation, the MINI Countryman expresses its versatility, dynamism, agility, and premium character even more clearly. With its powerful proportions, the new MINI Countryman is impossible to overlook. Its distinctive charisma — shaped in part by increased ground clearance and an elevated seating position — can be emphasized further with MINI ALL4 exterior styling and prominent raised roof rails. The new MINI Countryman features the typical MINI design elements: a clear three-part side profile divided into body, window line, and roof; short overhangs; large wheel-arch openings; and a body shape that widens toward the lower section. Clearly defined sculpting on the body panels creates striking transitions of light and shadow, emphasizing the athletic forms and upright stance of the vehicle. The paint range includes Island Blue metallic and Chestnut, both offered for MINI for the first time. “The new MINI Countryman has become significantly larger. Despite this, we have succeeded in preserving the typical MINI proportions,” emphasizes Julius Schluppkotten, head of the MINI Countryman project.

Numerous model-specific design features have been developed further in evolutionary fashion, including the helmet-like roof shape, vertically arranged rear lights, hexagonal radiator grille, and large headlights. The surrounds of the side turn indicators, known as side scuttles, now have a new arrow-shaped outline. Satin aluminium roof rails are combined with silver side-sill trim, visually reinforcing the vehicle’s height. At the rear, horizontal lines dominate, creating a strong contrast with the vertically oriented tail lights.

LED headlights, framed for the first time by rings of daytime running light.

The shape of the headlights departs from the classic rounded MINI form. Their distinctive, slightly asymmetrical contours, together with the hexagonal radiator grille, give the front end a character all its own. In the standard version, the daytime running lights are integrated into the air intakes. In combination with the optional LED headlights, the daytime running lights are designed for the first time as illuminated strips that encircle the entire headlight.

More space for a premium atmosphere.

The noticeably more spacious interior of the new MINI Countryman, its refined premium atmosphere, and its modern display and control concept clearly demonstrate the progress achieved with this new generation. The driver and front passenger benefit significantly from increased headroom and shoulder room. The range of seat adjustment has also been expanded. Electrically adjustable front seats are available as an option, including a memory function on the driver’s side. Slim body pillars and the elevated seating position optimize visibility during manoeuvring. In the rear of the new MINI Countryman, passengers have three full-size seats at their disposal. Larger rear-door openings compared with the previous model make entering and exiting the vehicle more convenient. In addition to the increased interior width, the considerable gain in legroom is immediately noticeable.

A distinctive cockpit design

The clearly emphasized horizontal structure of the uniquely designed cockpit, its elongated lines, and its substantial surfaces underline the solid character of the new MINI Countryman. The shape of the air vents reflects the vertical orientation of the exterior design elements. In addition to high-quality materials and impeccable workmanship, the exclusive atmosphere inside the cabin is created by modern controls with carefully considered ergonomics. The signature MINI display is integrated into the dashboard and framed by an LED ring, which responds with coloured light effects to driving conditions or to specific vehicle-control actions. The LED ring is part of the MINI Excitement package, which also includes LED ambient lighting and the projection of the MINI logo from the exterior mirror on the driver’s side when the vehicle is opened or closed.

A display with touch control

The standard equipment of the new MINI Countryman includes the MINI Boost radio with a central cockpit display and a Bluetooth hands-free system. Available options include the MINI Visual Boost radio with a 6.5-inch colour display, a Harman Kardon HiFi speaker system, the MINI navigation system, and the MINI Professional navigation system. The Wired package with MINI Professional navigation includes not only the touch controller on the centre console but also an 8.8-inch colour display with newly designed graphics. This display has touchscreen functionality, allowing vehicle functions to be selected and adjusted with a simple touch of the screen.

The MINI Country Timer.

In combination with the Wired package and MINI Professional navigation, drivers can use a function developed exclusively for the MINI Countryman, designed to highlight the off-road capabilities of the new model in an original and innovative way. The MINI Country Timer records time spent driving in demanding conditions: on steep gradients, snow-covered roads, and off-road terrain. As soon as the new MINI Countryman encounters such conditions, the system identifies the nature and difficulty of the route and displays the relevant information graphically on the vehicle’s central display. “On the onboard monitor, the driver can see how challenging a particular section was and how long they drove through it,” explains Julius Schluppkotten, head of the MINI Countryman project. Driving-condition analysis is based on data supplied by the Dynamic Stability Control system. This makes it possible to see how easily and confidently the new MINI Countryman can move from the status of Street Cruiser to the category of Cliff Champ.

Modern driver-assistance systems and high-quality options for greater comfort.

The true driving pleasure of the new MINI Countryman is created not only by its versatility, but also by its safety and comfort. Standard and optional driver-assistance systems play an important role in this. The standard collision warning system with automatic braking for city driving can be supplemented by the Driving Assistant, which includes camera-based active cruise control, pedestrian warning with automatic braking, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. In addition, Park Distance Control, a rear-view camera, parking assist, and a head-up display are available.

The optional-equipment programme also includes two-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic glass roof, and an alarm system with a red LED indicator light integrated into the roof fin. A trailer tow hitch with a removable ball head is also available. Depending on the engine, the permitted trailer load ranges from 1,500 to 1,800 kilograms. With a wide selection of paint finishes, seat upholsteries, and decorative trim elements, the new MINI Countryman can be configured to reflect individual preferences. The MINI Yours Interior Styles design package, available in three different versions, enhances the stylish appearance of the cockpit panels with illuminated decorative trim. An elegant and emotional atmosphere inside the cabin can be created with the optional lighting package, featuring LED interior lighting, as well as LED ambient lighting, which is part of the optional MINI Excitement package and allows the colour of the illumination to be adjusted smoothly and continuously.
